The promotion for movies these days is getting ridiculous. Sure, trailers are amazing and get us hyped. Who didn’t enjoy the new Star Wars trailer? That said, sometimes you just need to have patience. If a movie isn’t coming out for a long time, and I’m aware of it, I’m comfortable waiting 6-8 months before it’s released to see a trailer with actual footage. Maybe another one 2 months before with more details.

This 20 second look at the new Batman v. Superman movie literally shows nothing from the movie

We see the Superman and Batman suits, both of which we have gotten better looks at months ago. In fact, there was an entire movie where Superman wore this suit. So really, we are not getting any new information at all. Not to mention the complete lack of even a glimmer of a scene from the actual movie. Plus, all of this is to promote the release of a trailer that is only 4 DAYS AWAY!

Spend an evening waiting in line to see a 2 minute trailer?

“Get My Passes” to see something that I can watch on Youtube on my laptop or on my phone in the bathroom? Hold Off On My Passes.

Where does it end?

The above video was dubbed a “tweaser” for last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. This one literally has a “Vine-ready” six seconds of footage, and was also released four days prior to the actual trailer. At least it’s showing scenes from the movie, and not a 5-second sweep of Magneto’s helmet on a table followed by the logo.

How bad will we let this get?

I say we don’t patronize these teasers, or we might just end up in a dystopia. It would be a world where the above picture of Batman v. Superman director Zack Snyder is a photo of a man having a thought about Snapchatting a link to an Instagram of a Facebook post announcing a 2-second peek of a bite-size trailer or “brailer” for the real trailer for a movie.

That’s not a world I want to live in.
